Prized for their large globe-shaped clusters of showy colors in shades of pink, blue, and white, hydrangea are a classic shrub for the landscape. Blooms open in mid-summer and often last until fall. Flower heads can be left on for winter interest, trimmed back after blooming, or preserved for dried flower arrangements. Excellent cut flower. Some varieties will bloom pink in alkaline soils and blue in acidic soils. Ask your garden center expert for more information relating to this.

Plant in rich, evenly moist soils with adequate drainage. Hydrangeas perform best under sunny morning light, but with shelter from harsh afternoon sun. However, light tolerance can vary by variety with varieties such as Annabelle performing well in shade, and others tolerant of full sun.
