Prized for its unique, spreading growth habit, Kentucky Coffee Tree is as tough as it is lovely. Bark is deeply furrowed and scaly, adding year-round interest to the landscape. Large, doubly-compound leaves have a tropical look and are usually blue-green in color with yellow fall color. Finely textured leaves create dappled shade.
Hardy and adaptable, Kentucky Coffee Tree will tolerate compacted, dry, or alkaline soils, though it prefers rich, moist soil for best results. Drought and pollution tolerant. While Kentucky Coffee Tree is known for its large seed pods, Espresso is a seedless cultivar.
