An excellent small ornamental tree, serviceberry provides multi-season interest to the landscape. Clusters of fragrant white blooms emerge in spring before leaves. Flowers give way to fruits which range from magenta pink to deep purple. A favorite food source of birds, fruits are edible and are wonderful in jams, baked goods, or eaten fresh from the tree - if you can get to them before the birds! Glossy green leaves turn scarlet red in fall. Interesting, upright-spreading form provides year-round interest.

A native to North America to Canada, serviceberry are adaptable and easy to care for. Prefers medium, well-drained, soil but tolerant of a range, including clay. Water thoroughly in first season to establish.
