Power raking is a process designed to remove thatch buildup in your lawn. Thatch is a brown, organic spongey layer between the soil surface and the growing turf.  A thick thatch layer contributes to poor turf performance.  Water, air and nutrients cannot properly penetrate this layer, causing poor drainage and nutrient intake.  A light shallow power rake will help slow thatch buildup and create a carpet-like appearance to start the growing season.
